Origins[]
The Lightning Class Frigate was created to serve as a smaller reconnaissance frigate before the Research Class vessel was designed and built. It was built during a peace time era. Currently there are ten in the fleet.
Use[]
The Lightning Frigate is used to fight and combat piracy, as well as escorting convoy's. It's mainly a patrol vessel, as well as a recon vessel when needed.
Naming[]
Much to Bly's dismay, the ships were named after harsh adjectives, that went against the peaceful names of the other BlyDonian vessels. Whether this was because the name of the ship is lightning, which is harsh, or the ship-namer was having a bad day is unknown. A full list of names are available at the BlyDonian Fleet page.
Retirement[]
With the production of the Tornado Class Frigates (which is currently slowly progressing in comparison with the new Victory Capital Ships), the Lightning Class is slowly being retired.
