    Abridged history of WBVDKT

    January 21, 2016 by Bly12

What follows is the abridged synopsis of the almost the entire WBVDKT RPG, from beginning to when we went on hiatus. It goes from late 2009 to about 2013. It won't really be ordered by dates, but it'll be ordered by sections and plotlines.

This synopsis is from my perspective (Bly's). Most of it is "right" as I perceive it/know it. If there's anything that you (Wolf/Kris/Tourny) see that you think is wrong, please don't edit it, but add an addendum at the bottom of the page with your edited version or whatever.

    Without further ado, the synopsis:

The RPG started as a more organized form of random RPs that we were doing in the tournytime room. WBVDKT proper started when the wiki was formed. The RPG was established to take place in the Appearanc…

    Guide to PvP matches

    June 15, 2013 by Kris159

This'll be my guide to competing in a Minecraft tournytime PvP match. It will give you tips based on my personal experience in an attempt to somewhat level the playing field.

You might want to read up on enchanting and experience first via the Minecraft wiki. They're pretty essential to being competitive in the matches with the new no diamond weapons or armor rule. It's a complex topic, one which I might fail to properly explain in this guide.

So, let's get right in to it. The very first thing to do is knock down a tree, and get yourself a stone sword, pickaxe, shovel and axe. You'll probably want extra cobble for a furnace or just to have blocks. This comes to 16 cobblestone, total, so aim to get this much with your wooden pickaxe. You migh…

This post stems from a discussion User:Wolf802 and I were having (Kris159 wasn't really involved) yesterday concerning space flight, and touching on other topics. I decided to make a list of ways the RPG violates the laws of reality. Please remember, this list isn't supposed to be comprehensive, and it is not a criticism of these things. This list is not for things that violate physical laws that apply in the present, in other words FTL drives and super-efficient magnets and materials don't really go here.

    • Orbital Bombardment: One kilogram at 75%c (light speed) has an energy of 11 megatons when it impacts. Ship-mounted railguns, used by Drakonia, fire shells the size of McMansions at 50%c, yet impact with "only" a few hundred Mt.
    • Space flight…

This is to better clarify what wiki-related terms mean, whether they're general terms, companies, or software.

To start, a wiki is any online collaborative project where anonymous users can edit the content of a site (this kind of thing is called "Web 2.0"). To second(?), a wiki farm is a website which users can create any wikis. It's a web host server, basically, like GoDaddy, but for wikis.

So, here are the three companies:

    • The WikiMedia Foundation (WikiMedia for short)
    • Wikia, inc.
    • Tangient LLC

WikiMedia is not a wiki farm. Wikia, inc. and Tangient are wiki farms.

And here are the sites which the companies run:

    • WikiMedia runs: Wikipedia, Wikibooks, Wikiquotes, WikiCommons, Wiktionary, MediaWiki (a website containing tutorials and stuff about the MediaWi…

Why the date is why it is

    December 12, 2011 by Kris159

I just wanted to make a blog to explain why the date is writing how it is, as it's not really given any rationale. The reason for this is the WBVDKT Wiki:Manual of Style covers basically everything, so should be concise. I'll probably put a see also link there pointing to this. I'm putting this as a blog because it's a bit too short to represent a whole WBVDKT Wiki page.

The date on this wiki is written in two ways. In both cases, the day and year are numbers, but whether the month is a word or a number effects what other characters the date has. So here are the two ways (they are automated to give the current date):

    • The word way: month d, yyyy
    • The number way: yyyy/mm/dd

In case we're not on anywhere from the 1st to the 9th, the word version is not…

    WBVDKT Sounds

    October 1, 2011 by Wolf802

Okay, so, long story short, Tourny made me think of back when Yulair was pwn beyond reason and I was stealing things all the time, including ground vehicles. Just 'cause, I strapped lightbars to 'em and gave 'em pwn sirens to go chase people with. Ergo, the Yulairian Military Police/Government Reformation Temporary Occupational Police Enforcement vehicles came into play.

    So I said, "What if?"

"What if they had a siren? What would it be?"

So I present you, voila. A what-if, not-so-high-quality experiment I did which ended up as this.

    • The sirens go somewhat like this:
      • Chirp>wail>pulse>rumbler/"takedown", ect.
      • Chirp: Used usually when pulling over a vehicle, as a short alert, ect
      • Wail: Used in pursuit and fast deployment
      • Pulse: Used in pursuit and fa…

    What to do

    July 25, 2011 by Kris159

The logs are bland, and it's time for me to bump them up a bit. Yes - I'll bump them with confusing code which I doubt anyone will understand. I need to work on something, but what? My past WikiProjects have been stuff I've had a good influence to do, such as "fix" Oasis, introduce new infoboxes, create lots of templates, create a few policy pages to outline a house style. Now, the summer holidays are starting to get boring for me, added to the fact that there's not much I need to do on here.

I want you guys to tell me what you want done, or what you think I should do.

    • I want to write more policy pages (if you're wondering, they're the ones that start with "WBVDKT Wiki:.), but I also want help
    • I enjoy writing tutorials
      • Maybe I could teach you …

'What's with WBVDKT Wiki, abbreviated WWWW or WW(-)WBVDKT, was a Blog created by me (duhh) which aimed to keep the community up to date on any changes to things like personal style sheets and other things I often updated. Instead of me posting messages in Tournytime, most of the time repetedly due to the fact that not everyone is there all the time, I would explain stuff here. I included any changes, the rationale for those, as well as an explination for some coding. The stuff you need and may have wanted to know (if you've reached this sentence without falling asleep, I mean).

I am now releasing the CSS and JS sheets as patches and versions, starting with 1.00 which will fixes the admin dashboard. Hot and quickfixes are be released as a .# on …

This blog is purely for me to better justify the votes for chair members of capita council based on a civilization's history. Civilizations listed are assumed that I will be representing the vote for them, and I will justify why I think that, as well as why they give what votes to who. Not only will it help me assign votes in the elections proper, but it will help me get a better, more developed grasp on the diplomacy of the Appearence. I can't be bothered to link.

Obviously, I'll get 8 civilizaitons, as there are 16 in the council and only one other RPGer.

    Notes

    • There's no records of why they joined the Capita Council on here, and I can't be bothered to check the chatlogs
    • I think they were first given an article for the AIL, then joined the Ca…

    Market Place

To buy or sell from or to an NPC...

    • Select the appropriate NPC by right clicking. If it doesn't bring up its inventory, right click again.
    • Once in the inventory page, you should see your inventory and the NPC's.
    • If you seek to sell, left click the thing you wish to sell in your own inventory. It will ask you if you are sure. Click again to say yes.
    • If you seek to buy, left click the thing you wish to buy in the NPC's inventory. It will ask you if you are sure. Click again to say yes.

To see your current balance of money, type /money

Please note that not all traders will buy and sell everything. I will post a list here as soon as I am finished assigning goods to all of them.

CAUTION: The prices will not yet change due to placed blocks! ENJOY IT WH…

    Plots: A Reflection

July 16, 2011 by DR. Tourny

Plots are a very important part of an RPG. Without a plot, you get something like this:

    • Character 1: So....
    • Character 2: *waits for Character 1 to do something*
    • Character 3: *attempts to start a plot*
    • Character 1 & 2: *ignores him because he's a noob*
    • Naga: (*kicks character 3's actor because he finds him annoying*)
    • Kris: (*goes to edit the wikia*)
    • Wolf: (This is exactly what I'm talking about!)
    • Bly: *uses the Plot Device button and erases everything that just happened that day*
    • Tourny: (Dang it, Bly!)
    • (Etcetera...)

As I'm sure you can see, not having a plot is often detramental to the RPG experience. You might be thinking that you've RPGed without plots just fine. If so, good for you! Being able to drive a story with pure improvisation takes a lot o…

In my WBVDKT career, I have seen many plots. Some of the plots failed, and some ran their full course. A big determining factor in the success of a plot is, among other things, the characters.

Characters are always created to serve a purpose. Some of them, like WBVDKT's own Officer are often referred to as NPCs, and exist solely because without them it would be like Darth Vader flying the Death Star around without Imperial Officers to kill when he's bored. Other characters represent a set of values. Optimus Prime, the famous leader of the Autobots, is a good example. In the beginning of his career, Optimus existed to embody leadership, morality, justice, and coolness (To sell action figures! Yay!). Characters like the Warden are created in …
